Lacanian Psychoanalysis

The uniquely human suffering that compels us to seek help does not resolve by superficial means, or by a change in life circumstance, not for long.

I offer psychoanalysis for adults 18 and older, often but not always those with previous therapeutic experience, who want to go further, into a more frequent and intensive space. It is conducted two to four times weekly, often building from an initial period of once-weekly work, in sessions of variable length, all via telehealth.

Punctuation

Rather than ending by the clock, each session ends on its own punctuation: a rupture, a question, a moment of arrival or doubt. The analyst’s ending is not a closing but an opening, a move that leaves something alive and set into motion.

Speech

Psychoanalysis is a practice of speech, one that restores creativity and significance to what we say, and the act of saying it. Invited to speak freely, you become an analysand: someone learning, through their own speech, to hear themselves. Something begins to dawn, an echo of the unconscious, gathering shifting instances of insight.

Position

I don’t offer advice, suggestions, persuasion, or solutions. The position is deliberate. It makes room for you, offers a space and time to discover and follow the threads of your unconscious, however fleeting or subtle.

Duration

There is no way of knowing, in advance, how long your analysis will last. Endings of analyses are as personal as the one who undertakes them, each concluding in its own time.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist, in private practice since 2018, and a candidate psychoanalyst at the Lacanian School of Psychoanalysis, where I have trained since 2020.

To begin, reach out to arrange an initial consultation. It takes only a request addressed to another who can hold that possibility open. Life is passing swiftly by. We can begin anywhere.
