Psychoanalytic Therapy

Many seek depth-oriented work because other modalities fell flat, sensing, rightly, that their distress and conflicts have something to do with what is intimate, and inaccessible, inside them.

This work is for adults who want depth at a once-weekly pace. It is conducted once weekly, in a standard session of 45-55 minutes, virtually: therapy without walls, held privately, wherever you choose.

Welcome

You are invited to speak, openly and gradually, without censorship or judgment: dreams, memories, crises, trauma, love and sexuality, the repetitions that embed you in sedimented patterns, passions unruly and insistent. All are given space.

Tending

This is not behavioral or emotional reeducation, nor a course in strategic personal problem solving. The word therapy comes from the Greek therapeia: service, attendance, tending. That’s the position: attending to what is speaking in you, with someone to accompany you through the arc of that work. The therapist, in this way, becomes an existential accompanist for this collaboratively held attention to you.

Gradual

In a world of quick fixes, this work is gradual, and that gradualness builds the capacity to notice, hold, and explore what arises. It is also the gradual nature of this therapy that fosters carefulness of approach, allowing you to reveal the narratives and nuances of your life story without overwhelm.

Habitable

Through this tending, what once disturbed and threatened us from within, constellated by the context, experience, and history of our lives, can tell us something most important about ourselves: our minds and lives made habitable again.

I’ve worked across a full range of presenting concerns and psychological diagnoses, including severe and persistent forms of psychological disorders.
